12 years since the passing of Alexis Argüello
Yesterday was the 12th anniversary of Alexis Argüello’s passing.
Triple world champion Alexis Argüello, considered one of the best super featherweights of all time, immortalized in the Hall of Fame of Canastota, New York, honored in 1999 as the ‘Best Nicaraguan Sportsman of all time’ and as a designation posthumously recognized as the ‘People’s Champion.’
Alexis Argüello is recognized in all the world, due to his exceptional skills, the quality of the rivals he faced and for the sheer amount of brilliant fights he fought..
During more than 15 years as professional boxers (1968-1983) he starred in eighty fights, 16 title defenses and won more than 60 battles by KO. This clearly shows the dimension of Argüello in the history of world boxing.
Gone, but never forgotten.
