Errol Spence Jr. and Danny Garcia confirmed their welterweight title fight, tentatively set for November 21st. The fight is expected be formalised on November 8th, officially being announced during FOX’s first boxing broadcast in five months.

No fight site has been mentioned as the current COVID-19 could potentially restrict the viable options.

“Done deal the King of the division BACK,” Spence wrote in his Tweet. “Nov. 21st on Fox PPV vs @DannySwift.”

Garcia responded with a Tweet that reads, “HERE WE GO! @ErrolSpenceJr. Spence on Nov. 21. Signed! Sealed! Delivered! My 10th world title fight [it’s] time to crown the king again.”

Joe Smith Jr vs Eleider Alvarez Set For August 22nd

Originally slated to fight on July 16th, due to injury the fight was postponed. Now scheduled for August 20th at the MGM Grand Conference Center (to be aired in the US on ESPN+), Eleider “Storm” Alvarez (25-1, 13 KO’s) and Joe “The Beast” Smith Jr. (25-3, 20 KO’s) are set and raring to go.

Eleider Alvarez: “This fight is critical for both of our careers. I respect Joe Smith, who has proven to be an elite fighter. However, I have all the tools to beat him, and that’s what I intend to do. My goal is to become a two-time light heavyweight world champion.”

Joe Smith Jr: “This fight means everything to me. It’s my path to a world title fight, and I know this is my second chance to turn my dream into reality. Alvarez is a former world champion, and in my mind, I am treating this as a world title fight. To get there, I have to, and will, win this fight.”

Promoter Bob Arum: “I can’t wait to sit back and watch this fight, which features two of the light heavyweight division’s biggest punchers. It’s a 50-50 fight and a great way to kick off our return to MGM Grand.”

Mike Tyson, 54 and the former heavyweight champion of the 80’s and 90’s appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Talking about his return after 14 years out of the boxing ring (last fight was an exhibition with former contender Corey Sanders in 2006) he opens up about facing Roy Jones Jr. in a PPV exhibition on September 12.

On his Boxing comeback…

“I’m back, man, I’m back. I don’t know how come it came back. I started training. I’m back in shape. I’m 228. And I’ve been boxing. Doing what I can. I can’t believe this either, man. It’s just — I don’t believe in the Fountain of Youth, but something just came over me, and I’m back, man.”

About the man he faces, Roy Jones Jr…

“Oh, man, I’m so happy. Yeah, man. It’s gonna be so awesome. I’m so happy to be coming back into the ring and facing Roy Jones on September 12th. It’s gonna be so awesome…he’s the greatest fighter of his generation. I’m the greatest fighter of my generation, and it’s just a no-brainer that we should clash together.”

Trainer Willie Savannah Passes at 85

Willie Savannah, who passed away at his home in Houston, Texas, he was 85. Savannah is best known for training Juan “Baby Bull” Diaz, the former unified lightweight world champion.

“We have lost a great one today,” Diaz tweeted. “Willie Savannah Taught me so much since I walked in that gym at the age of 8. We won four world titles and a lifetime of memories. Rest in Peace, Mr. Willie Savannah.”
