Positive 2021 end-of-year review for Eye of the Tiger Management
In spite of the upsets and challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Eye of the Tiger Management wishes to highlight the accomplishments of its team at the end of a year fraught with emotion. The team doubled down in its efforts to present a total of twelve events all over the world not only to ensure that its athletes continued to grow and to scale world classifications, but also in order to respect its commitment to boxing fans in featuring quality bouts.
David Lemieux’s (43-4-0, 36 KOs) KO victory against David Zegarra last June resulted in his finishing 2nd worldwide in the WBC ranking, 3rd in the WBO’s, 5th in the WBA’s and 6th in The Ring’s. The WBC has mandated a world championship fight in 2022 between the heavy-hitter and David Benavidez.
Powerhouse Arslanbek Makhmudov (13-0-0, 13 KOs) defeated both Pavel Sour and Erkan Teper, holding on to his NABF title and winning the NABA heavyweight belt. These accomplishments hoisted “The Lion” to the 10th place in the WBC and 9th in the WBA, bringing him that much closer to his ultimate goal of becoming the undisputed champion of the heavyweight division.
For his part, Christian Mbilli (20-0-0, 19 KOs) shone on three separate occasions in 2021, reaching The Ring’s 8th place worldwide, and the WBC’s 10th. On December 11, “Solide” sent a clear message to the entire middleweight division, where he easily dominated every round of his battle against the tough and tenacious Ronald Ellis and held on to his WBC Continental Americas belt.
Erik Bazinyan (26-0-0, 20 KOs) carved out his spot in the elite super-middleweight division by quickly dispatching Scott Sigmon. As a result, “BZO” has attained 7th place in the WBA, 8th in the WBO and 16th in the WBC. Marc Ramsay’s protégé is now on the cusp of world championship fights.
2021 was a good year for Yves Ulysse Jr. (20-2-0, 11 KOs), who offered a flawless performance against David Théroux, retaining his NABF light-welterweight title. He is now 14th in the world division of the WBC and is quickly moving toward major fights in this division.
“I am very happy with the distance we have covered over the past ten years and of this positive review. We have made history by crowning not only the first Quebecois heavyweight world champion, Bermane Stiverne, but also super-middleweight David Lemieux, and we have established a solid reputation on the world scene. As an organization we have worked hard and learned a lot. The future is bright for EOTTM in the coming years and we intend to take the sport of boxing to a higher level,” states EOTTM president, Camille Estephan.
The EOTTM team extends heartfelt thanks to all those involved with the association: its fans, its partners and members of the press for their support throughout the year. We wish you health and happiness in 2022 and we look forward to seeing you.
