Andrew Robinson targets the big 40 - next out on November 13 | Boxen247.com

Andrew Robinson has targeted the big 40 as his storied pro career makes its way past a 35th pro outing.
His 36th contest forms part of BCB Promotions’ next offering at the Hangar Events Venue, in Wolverhampton, on the Sunday night of November 13.
Robinson travels across the West Midlands from Redditch, but was born in Hay Mills, Birmingham and made his paid debut in Wolverhampton, at the Civic Hall, 10 years ago.
Since then, the 38-year-old has amassed a pro run that contains 27 wins, six losses and two draws, earning him Midlands and IBO Continental honours.
‘D’Animal’ has challenged for English, British, WBO European and WBC International titles when on the wrong end, with only Mark Heffron and Liam Williams able to stop him early.
Robinson still feels aggrieved at the manner of that 2018 defeat against current British super middleweight champion Heffron, where an injury to his left eye hampered him.
He was also paired last year with British middleweight boss Denzel Bentley, who has been handed a shot at the WBO world title in December.
Robinson instead engages in a second straight four-rounder, having outpointed Konstantin Aleksandrov through a 40-36 whitewash result in July.
That victory was dedicated to the memory of his father, Owen, who sadly passed away during the previous month. This occasion might well be more straight-forward.
He said: “I’ve stayed in the gym, so there has been no big training camp needed. My last fight was an emotional one and, to be honest, it became a bit of a blur.
“It was nice to be out again and to show people some of the things I’ve been working on, but I’m a 10 to 12-round fighter. It’s in the later rounds when the knockouts come for me.
“He was hanging for dear life, in the fourth, and if he wasn’t so tough, I don’t think he’d have got through it. I got the rounds in and I’m always happy to do that.
“It’s about being professional and doing my job. If the next opponent goes, from the pressure that I’m going to put on him, then happy days, but the win is most important.
“As long as I’m in good condition, I’m a dangerous fighter, who can cause a lot of damage. I just need to get myself back into title contention.
“I enjoy what I do and I fear no man. I’m self-driven and I want to get to 40 pro fights, then see where I’m at. Age is nothing but a number to me.
“I had 25 (bouts), as an amateur (for Lions Boxing Club in Dudley), and I’d been happy with that, as a pro, if you’d have asked me when I made my debut, but I passed that long ago.
“I’ve been calling out the big names and, as far as I’m concerned, everybody is scared of me. I struggle to get sparring, let alone a fight!”
Tickets for the Hangar bill are available, priced at £40 standard or £75 VIP ringside with buffet, directly from the boxers or by visiting myfighttickets.com.
