Angelo Di Carlo: Demsey looks to round out his year with a bang!
Demsey McKean has been one of the world’s most proactive fighters during the COVID pandemic. Despite heavy restrictions within Australia, McKean and his team at ACE Boxing have pushed the envelop, traveling to the UK and beyond to secure McKean a chance at the big time.
Since arriving in the UK, McKean has been part of multiple elite camps that include Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua and the towering Aussie discussed his time in camps with the hard-hitting Brits and his link-up with Matchroom Boxing.
McKean said, “It was a really good experience joining the AJ (Anthony Joshua) camp. The whole team was really professional and the camp everything was really well done (in regards to how professional the setup was) and it ran really smoothly. They really are a friendly group of guys who make you feel welcome when you get into their group which makes the experience even more enjoyable.
“Dillian has a really great team here and it’s been a blessing to be able to train and partake in all training sessions as a team. I’ve really enjoyed being part of the team environment and I’m learning a lot during the time I’ve spent here. I can see why he is on the verge of fighting Tyson Fury.”
McKean continued, as he discussed his recently announcement link up with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
“I am delighted on my recent signing and to join the Matchroom Boxing team and get back in the ring next week,” said McKean. “I’ve had a brilliant time over the last few months sparring with Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte but now it’s time to do it for real and I can’t wait to fight in America.
“Matchroom has big plans in Australia but it also gives me the chance to box all over the world including the USA and the U.K. I’m looking forward to staying active and to keep climbing the Heavyweight rankings, thank you to Eddie Hearn and Angelo DiCarlo and the Ace Boxing Group team for making this happen.”
Australian-based ACE Boxing Group has guided the career of McKean, headed up by promoter Angelo Di Carlo, who gave his take on McKean’s link up with Matchroom Boxing.
Di Carlo added, “Ace Boxing Groups Demsey McKean is proud to be signed by the worlds leading boxing promoter – Matchroom Boxing. Demsey looks to round out his year with a bang in his international debut next Friday night in the USA and I am really expecting him to put on a world-class performance for fight fans not just watching in the USA but around the world.
“Demsey is then keen to keep building momentum in 2022 towards hopefully securing main event status when Ace Boxing Group works alongside Matchroom Boxing to stage an event in Australia highlighting Ace Boxing Group fighters that will no doubt be the biggest promotion in this country in 2022 and beyond”
Matchroom Boxing has been guided to incredible heights in world boxing by Britain’s Eddie Hearn. An integral part of the heavyweight journeys of the likes of Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte amongst others, Hearn commented on his latest heavyweight acquisition.
“I’m very happy to announce Demsey as part of the Matchroom Boxing team as we continue our expansion into Australia,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “Demsey is 19-0 and now ranked No. 11 with the WBO and 12 with the IBF in the Heavyweight division and sits on the cusp of some huge fights. Whilst the plan for us is to begin staging shows in Australia in 2022, we plan on boxing Demsey all around the world starting in the States next week. I’m excited to keep him active and continue to raise his profile globally before we return home for a major fight in Australia.”
