Archie Sharp & Dennis McCann promise destructive performances
Archie Sharp vs. Marcio Soza
Dennis McCann vs. John Chuwa
Royal Albert Hall, London 10/7/21
Archie Sharp and Dennis McCann has both vowed to earn knockout wins when they return to the ring at the Royal Albert Hall next month.
The undefeated pair are part of the Queensberry Promotions event taking place in London on July 10, which will be broadcast live on BT Sport.
Sharp (19-0, 9 KOs) has his rescheduled fight with Marcio Soza (21-6-2, 12 KOs) for the vacant WBO Global super-featherweight title, while McCann (9-0, 5 KOs) takes part in his 10th professional fight as he meets John Chuwa (20-4, 10 KOs).
The duo are hard at work training together under Al Smith at the iBox Gym in London, but they both made their intentions perfectly clear during a press conference on Tuesday.
Sharp said: “I’m itching to go. Thanks to MTK Global and Frank Warren for the opportunity to be back out, and it’s my time to shine on July 10. I’m coming for another knockout.
“I’m not just fighting for myself anymore. I’ve got three kids and it’s about putting them first. I need to be active again and get the momentum going. I was meant to fight last week but my opponent got COVID, so now I just want to get back in there and get a new belt.
“Shakur fought on Saturday and I thought he was very poor, but he got the job done. Fights against people like him are what I want. I know I have the ability and have believed that sinec day one.
“My last few performances haven’t been great, but I’ve made my new move to Al Smith and the iBox Gym and it’s all about timing. This is perfect timing for me and you’re going to see an improved Archie Sharp.”
McCann said: “I’m ready for anybody put in front of me. I’ll do a nice number on Chuwa on July 10. He’s fought Prince Patel but you can’t compare Patel to me, he’s not good enough to lace my boots.
“Al sometimes keeps me on the leash, but this time I’m coming for the knockout, even if he tells me to hold back or not to stick it on the opponent or take the risk. I’m going to come out like a bull.
“I am going to make it. I’ve trained too hard and given my whole childhood and everything else for this. I left school at 10 just so I could box. I was living in Birmingham and travelling to Bethnal Green four or five times a week.”
