Archie Sharp and Dennis McCann both returned to the ring in style as they each claimed victories on Saturday.

The duo were competing on a Queensberry Promotions event at the Royal Albert Hall in London, which was broadcast live on BT Sport.

Sharp (20-0, 9 KOs) won the vacant WBO Global super-featherweight title, defeating Diego Andrade by unanimous decision after 10 hard-fought rounds.

‘The Sharpshooter’ overcame a pair of cuts in the fight, but was in control throughout, with the judges scoring it 99-93, 97-93 and 97-93, with Sharp extending his unbeaten record in the process.

Sharp said: “I was glad to be back and I’m thankful. The fans were here too and I appreciate them showing me the support. I got the cuts but you just have to get on with it.

“There have been a lot of up and downs in the camp. I had a broken arm, then my June fight got cancelled, and this is my first fight with a new team so there’s a lot to work with.

“I’ve beaten a tough Mexican who was avoided, and I started getting into it as the later rounds went on. He was wild, but if you put me in with the likes of Shakur Stevenson and Jamel Herring who are technical fighters, that’s when you’ll see the best Archie Sharp.”

There was a destructive performance from McCann (10-0, 6 KOs), who marked his return to the ring with a bang as he knocked out John Chuwa (20-5, 10 KOs) in the second round.

McCann has now won 10 fights since his professional debut back in 2019, and the 20-year-old was happy with the performance that he produced.

McCann said: “My and my team have been non-stop working in the gym. We’ve been in camp for 14 weeks and I let off some steam in there. I’ve trained extremely hard, and haven’t had any Haribo for 14 weeks! I’ll be eating some now!

“As long as I get the win that’s the main thing. I’ve fought two good opponent and I’m learning on the job. I’m only 20 and you’ve got these people calling me out. They want to get me now before I get better, but they won’t even beat me now.

“They won’t even be whispering my name in 12 months time, never mind calling me out. I’m knocking people out at 20. Imagine what I’ll be doing in two years time. When I’m fighting on the world level stage I’ll take everybody out.”
