David Barreto and Wilbert Sarmiento will fight on March 27, in Caracas, Venezuela, for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedelatin Super Flyweight title, which is currently vacant.
The pioneer body, through WBA-Fedelatin, approved the bout between two young fighters with good records who are looking to take a giant step in their careers with this fight.
Barreto is the more experienced of the two fighters. The Caracas native comes into the fight on a three-fight winning streak. At 27 years old, he has international experience and has been WBA-Fedebol champion in the past.
He will fight a much younger opponent like Sarmiento, who is 20 years old and undefeated. Sarmiento, from Maturín, Monagas state, has been National Champion and is going to his first fight of this magnitude, but he is confident that his youth and talent will help him win.
Barreto comes in with a record of 15 wins, 1 loss, and 14 KOs, while Sarmiento has a record of 10 wins, no losses, and 7 KOs.
