Benavidez & Ellis in Eliminatory WBC Bout Next Saturday March 13th
Twice world champion David Benavidez faces the dangerous veteran Ronald Ellis in an elimination bout for the super middleweight title of the World Boxing Council, next Saturday, March 13, live on SHOWTIME at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, in a Premier Boxing Champions event.
The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® telecast also features two lightweight contenders, Isaac Cruz and Matias Romero, in a 12-round bout in the backup match. Also, a 10-round super welterweight between Terrell Gausha and Jamontay Clark in this event promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing.
David Benavidez (23-0, 20 KOs), a boxing prodigy from Phoenix, Arizona, returns to the ring after a knockout win over Alexis Angulo at Mohegan Sun’s “Fight Sphere” last August.
Benavidez turned pro at 16 and captured his first world title at 20, becoming the youngest 168-pound world champion in history. Benavidez, a two-time undefeated super middleweight champion, is looking to regain the WBC title he lost on the scale last year.
