Boxing Coach Jim Evans Has Died – R.I.P
Brilliant, dedicated, respected and beloved Boxing Coach Jim Evans has passed away aged 85, after the bravest fight of his life, against prostrate cancer.
Champion amateur boxer, coach, promoter, manager and mentor, helping and guiding so many generations of young fighters, Jim was one of the VERY FEW people, who was awarded the WBC Medal of Honor and simultaneously the Jose Sulaiman Certificate for Lifetime Achievement. How appropriately apt because he put on the gloves at the age of twelve and supported by his loving family, he devoted his entire life to our Sport, leaving it so much greater than when he found it.
A man like Jim is such an exceptionally rare treasure. The legacy he has left us, will be cherished, honoured and above all, remembered Forever. Too modest to ever blow his own trumpet, we ourselves onpass a clarion salute, accompanying him with his passing from this World to the Next.
