BCB Promotions: Quartet of home wins on a four fight Friday night | Boxen247.com

Brandon Jones wants to make it six of the best and then crack on towards bigger and better things in the light heavyweight division.

He resumes his efforts when BCB Promotions are back in the Black Country at Dudley’s the Venue, on the Friday evening of October 7.

Brummie Jones, from Chelmsley Wood, is going for 6-0 and has dropped next to nothing in his previous five pro contests, which have all come within the last 12 months.

The 23-year-old debuted with a stoppage last October, flooring and dismantling the then-undefeated Ryan Bithell in the third round.

Jones has since outpointed Antony Woolery, Elvis Dube and Konstantin Alexsandrov, also beating Dube in a rematch, after his opponent retired at the end of the first round (injury).

He feels like he didn’t get out of first gear to whitewash Alexsandrov, which was his latest victory and added to 40-36 points landslides over Woolery and Dube.

Jones is now looking to go up against the same sort of adversaries he came across as an amateur, where he won two national titles.

In his teenage years, he amassed 38 amateur bouts, 30 of them victories, and went all of the way in the 2014 England Junior Championships and the NABC competition of 2016.

Jones said: “I haven’t boxed in three months, but I’ve only had a couple of weeks out of the gym. I’ve just been training and ticking over, then I started a six-week camp for this one.

“I want to step up in opponents now, because it was a bit too easy for me last time. To be honest, the others I’ve had were better than that.

“I did well, I was just pinging his head off with the jab. He’s got a good chin, I’ll give him that, but I don’t think that he caught me once.

“Before that, I’ve had Elvis Dube twice and it turned out to be one of his last few fights. I’ve shared a ring with him and I wish him all of the best in his retirement.

“I think my worst performance (as a pro) was against Antony (Woolery). I was just far too hesitant that night and I learned from it, which I’ve shown since then.

“There are not many people who box a 1-0 lad on their debut and he’s probably the strongest one that I’ve been in with (of the four). To get that stoppage was a great result.

“Ryan Kelly (former Midlands super welterweight champion) is my main sparring partner and he’s a good operator to have around. I’ve done a few rounds with Josh Stokes (7-0 pro) too.

“I want a good win here and to get another in, before the end of the year, then I wouldn’t mind going for a title. I’ll fight anyone and I’m feeling sharp.”

Tickets for the Venue bill are available, priced at £40 standard or £75 VIP ringside with buffet, directly from the boxers or by visiting myfighttickets.com.
