Can Xu vs. Leigh Wood
Fight Camp, Brentwood, Essex, England 31/7/21
Can Xu and Leigh Wood met face to face at a press conference before their WBA featherweight title bout this Saturday at Matchroom Boxing’s Fight Camp in Brentwood, England.
The Chinese native and his British opponent will be in the main fight of the evening after WBA Continental welterweight champion Conor Benn tested positive for Covid-19 and his fight against Adrian Granados was postponed.
Xu and Wood looked quite motivated at the media briefing and talked about what they expect from this fight.
“I’ll be coming home with my belt,” Can Xu assured regarding the black and gold belt. “This is going to be a great fight.”
For his part, Wood talked about the great opportunity ahead of him and what it means to him.
“It’s a dream to be fighting for a world title. I’m 100% sure I can beat Can Xu,” said the veteran in his speech to the media.
Now he only challenges them to step on the scales this Friday, where they must mark 126 pounds to be cleared for the headline bout. Can Xu has 18 wins, 2 losses and 3 knockouts, while Wood has a record of 24 wins, 2 losses and 12 knockouts.
