Canelo on Track to Make History, Yildirim Goes For The Surprise
In the last scheduled statement for Saturday’s bout in Miami, United States, Mexican boxing star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, didn’t go out of the outline he has been building for years, announcing that he wants to become a boxer with a historical legacy, eager to win, regardless of the opponent. His counterpart, Turkey’s Avni Yildirim, tries to spread confidence over the press, even though the task of defeating the Mexican boxer is very big.
“I respect all fighters. I know he has a lot of tools, but I’m focused on continuing to make history. I love to be here. I love being in the gym. It’s my life. We’re going to fight these fights fight by fight, and hopefully I can fight four times this year”, said Álvarez, making it clear what the course to follow in 2021 is, and the first on the list is Yildirim.
“I am focused on my rival on Saturday. I know now, this fight is all there is to me, and I’m focused on what to do, my job for Saturday”, he said.
The Hard Rock Stadium in Miami is the chosen venue to host Canelo with fifteen thousand fans in times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yildirim and the fight that will mark his life
Raising a banner of ‘nothing to lose, everything to gain’, the Turkish Yildirim knows that the opportunity to fight Canelo for the WBA Super Middleweight Super Championship and the WBC belt at stake, is a fortune and will try to make the Mexican’s night bitter.
“Canelo is a great champion, but this Saturday is my time. To be here is a fortune. It is an important night for me and my country. I believe that after this fight, boxing will be bigger in my country,” Yildirim considers, despite being the underdog.
