Claressa Shields Return is Against Marie-Eve Dicaire Slated For March 5th
A year has passed since world champion Claressa Shields stepped into the ring.
Shields promoter Dmitriy Salita said there are plans for a match against Canadian Marie-Eve Dicaire for the undisputed super welterweight championship on March 5 in Michigan.
They were originally scheduled to fight on May 9 in Flint before the world was rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic and the fight was postponed.
“We are working on something for the first quarter of this year,” Salita told MLive-The Flint Journal. “Hopefully that can happen in Flint, but it all depends on what happens with the pandemic. The goal is for Claressa to finally headline a show in Flint, Michigan. That is the aim and it is something we are working on.”
Shields (10-0-0, 2 KOs) has never fought in her home town of Flint and it is one of her goals to achieve in the short term.
