David Haye at age 40 to return in America on September 11

Former two-weight world champion David Haye is to face Joe Fournier on a Triller Fight Club event on Saturday 11 September.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, and is headlined by a showdown between boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya and Vitor Belfort.

Fournier (9-0, 9 KOs) was last in action in April, competing on another Triller show when he stopped Reggae singer Reykon after two rounds.

In a shock development, he is now set to meet Haye (28-4, 26 KOs), who won world titles at cruiserweight and heavyweight and was last in action back in May 2018.

Rumour has it that if all goes well on September 11, Haye will square off with former foe Derek Chisora in the new year.

Elsewhere on the card, Jono Carroll (19-2-1, 5 KOs) returns, for his rescheduled battle with Andy Vences (23-2-1, 12 KOs) for the vacant WBC International super-featherweight title.

The two men were initially due to collide in June on the undercard of the fight between Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jnr, before a positive COVID-19 test for Lopez saw the card pushed back.
