Dean Dodge: I Think Danny Carr is Past it!!
Dean Dodge has questioned Danny Carr’s desire ahead of challenging him for the Southern Area super-featherweight title on Friday’s action-packed #MTKFightNight.
The clash of unbeaten fighters sees Dodge (9-0-1, 3 KOs) take on Carr (11-0-1, 4 KOs) at the University of Bolton Stadium, live in the US on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank and worldwide on IFL TV.
The war of words between the two men has been brewing over the last few weeks, and Dodge feels that Carr may come up short due to distractions outside of the ring.
Dodge said: “I think Danny Carr is past it now. I know he has a few businesses outside of boxing, so I don’t know if he wants to box. Maybe this is his last stab in the dark for a chance.
“I knew of Danny from the amateurs as he was the weight below me, and we have seen plenty of tapes on him. This fight is going to be a barnstormer and definitely one that the public will love.
“We’ve seen his weaknesses, and it’s for me to know and for the world to find out. I believe on the night I’ll be too strong and too big for him. I see myself stopping him late on.”
Elsewhere on Friday’s huge card, Sean McComb and Gavin Gwynne meet for the vacant Commonwealth lightweight title, Darren Tetley meets Samuel Antwi for the vacant English welterweight title,, Pierce O’Leary fights Irvin Magno, Mark McKeown takes on Brad Daws, Paddy Donovan goes up against Siar Ozgul, Elliot Whale faces Jamie Stewart, and Mohammed Sameer is back in action.
