Derrick Jackson tops Entrobox Boxing undercard this Sunday
Orlando native Derrick “Diesel” Jackson faces his toughest test to date as part of a talent-rich Entrobox Championship Boxing undercard Sunday, August 21 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, FL.
Jackson takes a step up in competition to face Damian “El Pollero” Bonelli of Buenos Aires, Argentina in a six round junior middleweight contest. The 20-year-old Jackson’s a perfect 8-0 with 4 KO’s. A Silver Medalist at the 2018 US National Championships, Jackson’s fighting his fifth consecutive bout at the Caribe Royale.
With more than four times the pro experience of Jackson, Bonelli’s an impressive 24-11 with 20 wins by knockout. The iron-chinned veteran has only been stopped twice while facing the likes of Maciej Sulecki, Steve Rolls, Magomed Kurbanov, Carlos Gongora, Fiodor Czerkaszyn and Yamaguchi Falcao among others.
The card is promoted by Boxlab Promotions in association with American Dream Presents. Tickets from $45 are on sale at Ticketmaster.com. Doors open at 4 pm and the first bout begins at 5.
Welterweight Jeovanny Estela of Orlando risks his 8-0 record against 59 fight veteran Ramon De La Cruz Sena of Buenos Aires, Argentina in a six round bout. Estela is a crowd pleasing fighter with a large following but is expected to have his hands full against an opponent that’s battled 13 undefeated fighters during his 14 year pro career.
Cruiserweight crusher Adrian “Pretty Boy” Pinheiro looks for his ninth knockout in as many fights when he challenges grizzled veteran Jose Corral of Sonora, Mexico in a six rounder. An Orlando native by way of Poland, Pinheiro crushed Javier Gomez Rueda in 1 minute and 21 seconds on July 23.
2016 US Olympian Antonio Vargas of Kissimmee, FL will face Samuel Gutierrez of Coahuila, Mexico in a six round bantamweight tilt. Vargas, 13-1 (5 KO’s), was out of the ring for 2 ½ years prior to his most recent fight, a fourth round knockout over Daniel Coronel.
Junior middleweight Ramiro De Jesus of Orlando challenges Roanoke, VA based veteran Alberto Delgado in a four rounder. On June 4, De Jesus won his pro debut via 17 second knockout.
Rounding out the undercard are four rounders between Buckeye, AZ native Dorian Khan, 1-0 (1 KO), against debuting David Morgan in a lightweight contest and Las Vegas, NV junior welterweight David Lopez, 1-0 (1 KO), versus an opponent to be named.
Khan and Lopez are promoted by Mayweather Promotions.
“I am very excited for this special Sunday evening card,” said Amaury Piedra of Boxlab Promotions. “We have fighters from across the US, Mexico, Argentina and Cuba so it is truly an international fight night. Make sure to get there early to see some of boxing’s future stars on the undercard prior to the televised tripleheader.”
The televised tripleheader featuring Kenneth Sims Jr. against Christian Mino for the WBA Continental junior welterweight title, Orestes Velazquez versus Emaliano Garcia and Kevin Hayler Brown-Jose Alfaro airs live at 7 PM on Bally Sports Network and the Bally Sports app.
