Pochayna Event Hall in Kiev, Ukraine – 8 December 2021

Ukrainians Dmytro Zubko and Roman Golovashchenko won Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International titles on Wednesday night, December 8, at Pochayna Event Hall in Kiev.

At Welterweight, Zubko stopped game but out-gunned Achiko Odikadze from Georgia in the fourth round to win what will likely be the first of many belts going forward.

Zubko, a 25-year-old highly touted prospect, used his significant reach-advantage to land frequently, but Odikadze was dangerous with wild attacks and clearly came to win.

In round three Zubko scored two knock-downs from right hands, but Odikadze showed grit and determination by getting up to fight back as hard as he could.

However, after two more knock-downs in round four, the fight was waved off to save Odikadze from the inevitable onslaught.

The new UBO International Welterweight Champion improved his professional record to 6-0 (4). Odikadze (22) is now 23-19-1 (8).

Roman Golovashchenko took his professional record to 21-5 (19) and picked up the UBO International Heavyweight title in the process, stopping last minute opponent Taryel Jafarov (8-4, 7 KOs) in the first round.

A former two-time UBO World title-challenger, Golovashchenko pressured Jafarov into a corner and unloaded, forcing the referee to stop the fight when the Azerbaijani offered no response.

Golovashchenko is now hoping for a third crack at the UBO world Heavyweight title in 2022, and will definitely be faced with sterner opposition.

The show was promoted by Champion Boxing Promotion, and televised live by X Sport.
