Donnie Nietes & Tursynbay Kulakhmet Victorious in Dubai
Donnie Nietes and Tursynbay Kulakhmet both produced dazzling displays as they were each victorious in Dubai on Saturday.
The pair were fighting on the D4G Promotions #Legacy event at Caesars Bluewaters Dubai, with Nietes winning the WBO International super-flyweight title, while Kulakhmet retained his WBC International super-welterweight title.
Nietes (43-1-5, 23 KOs) was in control throughout the fight, leading to him earning a unanimous decision win over Carrillo (25-8-1, 16 KOs) after 10 rounds, with the judges scoring it 96-95, 98-92, 99-91.
Kulakhmet (3-0, 2 KOs) produced an incredible performance, needing less than two minutes to secure a massive round one knockout win over Heber Rondon (20-1, 13 KOs).
It was Kulakhmet’s first fight under new trainer Jamie Moore, and the Kazakh sensation made sure the relationship got off to a successful start, earning the knockout after a huge right hook.
Kulakhmet said: “Thank you to my team, and my coaches Jamie and Nigel. My preparation was in the UK for the first time in my life, and after this fight my performance will improve more and more.”
Askar Salikbayev of MTK Kazakhstan added: “Nobody wants to fight him, it will be difficult to find opponents after that fight, but we will find our destiny. We want a world title shot this year.”
