Elias Diaz training camp quotes and photos
Unbeaten prospect, Elias “Ingles” Diaz (11-0, 6 KOs), of National City, CA, is ready to spoil the homecoming of Louie Lopez (11-1-1, 4 KOs), of Corona, Ca, as the two will do battle in an eight-round welterweight co-feature taking place at Thompson Boxing’s “Path To Glory” event on August 20, 2022. Diaz talks about taking his career to the next level.
Tickets priced at $50, $75, $100 & $125, will only be available for purchase at the door the day of the event, which will take place at the Omega Products International Event Center in Corona, CA. Doors open at 6:30 pm PT with the first fight starting at 8:00 pm PT.
Here is what Diaz had to say about his recent training camp, his matchup with Lopez, and winning in his opponents backyard.
On his recent training camp:
“I am more focused than ever, and this training camp has been one of the hardest of my career. I’ve dug deep to get the most out of my training, but doing a lot of road work, in addition to sparring elite level guys. I am training in difficult circumstances, but my will is different, my training has been taken to another level going into this fight.”
On his matchup with Louie Lopez:
“He is similar to the last fighter I faced, but I think he offers a bit more in terms of versatility in the ring, he has a good chin, but I am mentally stronger. If he loses three rounds straight in an eight-round fight, I’m not sure he can handle fighting once he’s in a hole. My job is to put him in trouble and keep him there.”
On what a win does for his career:
“Winning on a major promoter’s card, like Thompson Boxing puts me on the radar for getting good fights, even great fights. I want to face the best in the world, I have built up my record against top level competition. Winning this fight sets me up to fight those types of fights, the ones I want to define my legacy, to make good money, and to get the most out of the sport. Winning changes my life.”
On fighting in Lopez’ hometown on a Thompson Boxing card:
“I’m grateful to Thompson Boxing as this is the biggest fight card I have ever been on, so I am viewing this as my introduction to the world. I am going to beat up Louie Lopez in his hometown, and I don’t care what he thinks, it is going to happen. I am ready for everything that comes with fighting an opponent in his own backyard. I have my mind made up that I am going to beat prospects to get my chance at fighting for a world title”
