Errol Spence: I want to retire Pacquiao
Errol Spence vs. Manny Pacquiao
World Boxing Council welterweight champion Errol Spence wants to become the man who retires Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao, 42, will challenge Spence 31, on Aug. 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in an event hosted by Fox Sports Pay-Per-View.
Spence, a younger, bigger and very skilled fighter is the favourite to defeat Pacquiao, but in boxing nothing is ever certain.
“I want to retire Pacquiao, but I respect him for taking this fight and being a brave fighter. He could have picked any easier fighter to have a good payday, but he took the biggest challenge in the division,” Spence told the YouTube show. Morning Kombat.
“I feel like the fights I’ve had in my career have gotten me to the point where I am now. Pacquiao is a living legend, a true icon. A lot of people don’t have these fights, but with him we’re living boxing history. I feel sorry for him. I feel lucky to be in the ring. This may be his last fight and that makes it so much bigger because this is probably going to be talked about for the next 100 years, “Spence said.
