Final hurdle before world title for “El Zurdo De Oro”?
Josue Morales vs. Gerardo Verde Moreno
Managua, Nicaragua – 21 May 2022
Since losing a decision to undefeated Hector Valdez in July 2020, Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Champion Josue Morales (23-12-4, 7 KOs) has picked up one title after another while winning twelve out of twelve bouts.
“El Zurdo De Oro” (The Golden Southpaw) currently holds the UBO International and Latino Super Flyweight titles, and in his most recent outing, on March 24, he captured a WBC regional title at Flyweight in Mexico, decisioning local man Arnulfo Salvador Rodriguez.
On May 21 he will be moving down another division, to take on another Mexican, former WBO world title-challenger Gerardo Verde Moreno (19-7-1, 14 KOs), for the vacant UBO International Light Flyweight title in Managua, Nicaragua.
If victorious, Morales, from Houston, Texas, could be fighting for the UBO World Light Flyweight title in his very next bout, so a lot more than another belt for his collection will be on the line.
The fight will be the co-main event of a show promoted by Nica Boxing Promotions, alongside IBF World Light Flyweight Champion Felix Alvarado taking on Luis Cerrito Hernandez.
