Finest WBC Flyweight Title Fights
Modern boxing was born in England and it is precisely there that the National Sports Club created the original 8 divisions to group boxing into categories by weight, seeking to develop fair, graduated and equal level competition among the contenders.
The 112-pound division was part of this original list. This category is distinguished by great boxing figures. It is an extremely attractive division that is highlighted by the quality of its champions and by the exciting speed/power ratio.
This February 27, the current WBC flyweight champion, Julio César “Rey” Martínez will return to the ring to face the mandatory challenger of the division, McWilliams Arroyo, in what is expected to be a new chapter in the remarkable Mexico vs. Puerto Rico chronicle and possible candidate for best fight of the year.
In the build up to this great fight, the World Boxing Council remembers some of the best fights of recent years, in no hierarchical order, with the WBC fly crown in dispute, namely:
Julio Cesar Martínez vs. Jay Harris
Julio Cesar Martínez vs. Cristofer Rosales
Charlie Edwards vs. Cristofer Rosales
Cristofer Rosales vs. Daigo Higa
Roman Gonzalez vs. Akira Yaegashi
