Focus on: Ukrainian-born Hungarian southpaw Sandor Micko
Sandor Micko had a relatively short, but eventful, professional boxing career which kicked off in December of 2011 and ended less than five years later.
During that period, he fought forty-two times in nine different countries, compiled a 28-12-2 (22) record, and won several championships campaigning between Super Welterweight and Super Middleweight.
Some of the world-class names the Ukrainian-born Hungarian southpaw faced, and lost to, were John Ryder, Roamer Alexis Angulo, Chris Eubank Jr., Michel Soro and Matthew Macklin.
In 2012 alone Micsko boxed sixteen times, but 2013, a year he stepped in the ring nine times, turned out to be his most successful year.
During those twelve months he went 8-1, losing only to the aforementioned Angulo, and captured World Boxing Federation (WBF) International and WBC CISBB titles, as well as the Hungarian national crown.
In 2014 he won four fights, winning a second Hungarian title, and lost three bouts, one of them for the WBO European title to Russia´s Artur Akavov.
At that point his career was very much up and down, but on his day he could still perform at a certain level.
So he was the favourite when he was matched against Cuban Ericles Torres Marin (11-8-1) for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Middleweight title in Sturovo, Slovakia in August of 2016.
But Torres Marin, who had won his two previous fights, had other ideas and deservedly won a unanimous decision.
Micsko has not boxed since, although still only thirty-five years old its not out of the question that he can return for a few more fights.
Between 2011 and 2016 he was willing to take on all comers, and probably could have achieved even more had he been a bit more selective with the assignments he accepted.
