Gilberto Ramirez Going For WBO Interim Title Against Browne

Gilberto Ramirez was a special guest on “Coffee Tuesday,” outlining the great commitment of fighting Marcus Browne for the interim WBC light heavyweight title.

 WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman mentioned that this fight was ordered due to the inactivity of the division, as world champion Artur Beterbiev has had problems defending his crown , having tested positive for COVID-19 during the camp training, as well as other pandemic-related restrictions that have delayed it. He clarified that at this time the fight is in a period of free negotiations with a deadline of February 5 and if an agreement is not reached, it will go to bids. 

 Mauricio is very enthusiastic about this fight, as he recalled when his father Don José Sulaimán saw Gilberto fighting, as a child and years later,  when he was crowned youth champion of the WBC, he predicted that this “boy” would become WBC champion.

 This emotional memory outlined a smile in Gilberto, who was clear in saying that this fight is a dream come true, so he is training hard for this.

“I feel very excited and motivated, I have always felt part of the WBC and I owe that to Don José, who always treated me with special affection and who since he met me told me that I would be world champion. Today,  I have that great opportunity and I assure you that I am not going to let it go, because I owe it to him, to my people and to myself.”

 Viz the date of the fight and the venue, nothing has yet been defined, but he says he`s looking for it to take place in Mazatlán, his land. Gilberto Ramírez is promoted by his own company, Zurdo Promotions.

 Focused on this commitment, Gilberto thanked the WBC for the opportunity to make his dream come true and with all great conviction and assured confidence , he declared that Mexico and the World Boxing Council will have a new and proud champion.

Gilberto Ramirez, fue invitado especial en los “Martes de Café” para hablar del gran compromiso que tiene cuando enfrente a Marcus Browne por el título interino WBC en la división semicompleto.

En este punto el presidente el WBC, licenciado Mauricio Sulaimán mencionó que esta pelea se ordenó debido a la inactividad que tiene la división ya que el campeón Artur Beterbiev ha tenido problemas para defender su corona debido a que dio positivo a COVID-19 durante el campamento de entrenamiento, así como otras restricciones relacionadas con la pandemia que han retrasado su pelea. Aclaró, que en este momento la pelea se encuentra en periodo de libres negociaciones teniendo como fecha límite el 5 de febrero y de no llegar a un acuerdo ser irá a subasta.

El máximo dirigente del organismo se mostró muy entusiasta con esta pelea, pues recordó cuando su padre Don José Sulaimán vio pelear a Gilberto, cuando apenas era niño y años más tarde coronarse campeón juvenil del WBC, sentenciando que ese “muchachito” llegaría a ser un campeón del WBC.

Este emotivo recuerdo esbozó una sonrisa en Gilberto, quien fue claro al decir que esta pelea es un sueño hecho realidad, por lo que se entrena al ciento por ciento.

“Me siento muy emocionado y motivado, siempre me he sentido parte del WBC y eso se lo debo a Don José, quien siempre me trato con especial cariño y quien desde que me conoció me dijo que sería campeón del mundo, hoy, tengo esa gran oportunidad y les aseguro que no voy a dejarla ir, pues se lo debo a él, a mi gente y a mí”. 

Sobre la fecha de la pelea y la sede aún no se tiene nada definido, pero si fue contundente al decir que está buscando que esta pueda darse en Mazatlán, su tierra. En este punto recordemos que Ramírez es promovido por su propia empresa, Zurdo Promotions.

Enfocado en este compromiso, Gilberto agradeció principalmente al WBC la oportunidad de convertir su sueño en realidad y con toda la convicción de un ganador sentenció que México y el Consejo Mundial de Boxeo tendrán un nuevo y orgulloso campeón del mundo.
