Gonzalez vs. Arenas for UBO World Title in Tijuana July 2
Giovannie Gonzalez vs. Christian Rene Arenas
Big Punch Arena in Tijuana, Mexico 2/7/21
(Vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Super Featherweight title)
He just might be the best 10-6-1 boxer in the world, and now Giovannie “King Gio” Gonzalez will get a chance to put an exclamation point behind the claim that the numbers do not do him justice.
On July 2 at the Big Punch Arena in Tijuana, Mexico, he will take on local man Christian Rene Arenas, in a rematch, for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Super Featherweight title.
A testament that he is focused on fulfilling the potential he clearly has, Gonzalez (31), from Stockton, California but of Mexican heritage, is coming down in weight after fighting as high as Super Lightweight previously and never shying away from a challenge even on short notice.
From his six losses, four has come against undefeated opponents, and the other two against fighters with only one defeat. In his most recent outing, last November, he came up short in an all-out war for a Lightweight title against 9-1-1 Jose Luis Roa.
Back in December of 2019, Gonzalez stopped Arenas (10-1, 5 KOs) in six rounds in another main event at the Big Punch Arena, and “Pipo” has been hungry for revenge ever since.
Fighting in his home-town will further inspire Arenas to even the score, but Gonzalez has left no stone unturned and, besides winning the UBO World title, wants to prove the result of their first fight was not a fluke.
Gonzalez vs. Arenas headlines a show promoted by King Gio Boxing Promotions.
