Ibeth Zamora says she will demonstrate exactly why she is world champion when she defends her WBC flyweight title against Marlen Esparza on Saturday.

Zamora (32-6, 12 KOs) puts her belt on the line against Esparza (9-1, 1 KO) at the Don Haskins Centre in El Paso, Texas, live on DAZN.

The two women went head to head at a press conference on Thursday, and defending champion Zamora was full of confidence ahead of the battle.

Zamora said: “I’m very excited and grateful, especially as there are nice people here in El Paso. This is a great opportunity and a big challenge. I know Esparza well, and this is a chance to demonstrate to everyone why I am a world champion.

“Each loss is a learning experience and it has made me grow in terms of boxing. I come with the conviction to bring back this world title. Esparza is a good fighter, but I will win by representing all of the people that support me.”

Esparza said: “I’m as confident as always. I believe in myself and I’ve had an extremely technical and strong camp. I’m ready and I am here to put on a big show.

“I’ve been boxing for 20 years. We have different experience and Zamora is a great fighter, but I’m blessed to be in this situation and to be fighting for a world title so early in a professional career. I’m going to go in there and stick to my team’s plan and be the best version of myself.”
