Idd Pialari faces Chimwemwe Chiotcha for the UBO All-Africa title on Feb.5
Idd Pialari vs. Chimwemwe Chiotcha
Mrina Hall in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania – 5 February 2022
Idd Pialari (29-7-1, 21 KOs) will get a chance to win the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) All-Africa Welterweight title for the third time on February 5.
The 28-year-old Tanzanian will face Chimwemwe Chiotcha (17-10-1, 12 KOs) from Malawi for the vacant crown on a show promoted by Count Down Boxing Promotions at Mrina Hall in Dar Es Salaam.
Pialari first became UBO All-Africa Champion in 2016, and made one successful defense before relinquishing the title when he won the UBO International title in 2017.
After one defense of the International title, he regained the UBO All-Africa title in 2019 but was stripped when he lost a WBO regional title fight in 2020.
Last September Pialari challenged for the UBO World Welterweight title, losing to undefeated Arda Avci in Turkey. He has since rebounded with a knockout victory over former UBO International titlist Ramadhani Shauri.
For Chiotcha (38) it will be his third attempt to become champion of Africa, but this time it will be at a weight for natural for him.
In 2012 he lost a split decision to Francis Cheka for the IBF version at Super Middleweight, and in 2016 he came up short against Walter Kautondokwa for the WBO title at Middleweight.
Nicknamed “Rhino Chipembere”, he is also coming off a victory in his most recent outing, defeating former Malawi national champion Chikondi Makawa this past November.
