“I’ll Be Throwing Big, Heavy, Powerful Shots” – Joe Joyce
With the change(s) of date for the Joyce vs Dubois fight, it is supposedly set with the date being October 24th. There are still questions of whether the date will be changed again for the all English clash of unbeaten heavyweights.
A further change would make way for a possible paying live gate, even if the numbers would be heavily restricted.
With October 24th supposedly 100%, Joe Joyce spoke to Sky Sports on his heavyweight rival.
“The fight he had with Richard Lartey, he got hit and panicked. I’ll be throwing big, heavy, powerful shots and we’ll see if he can take those.”
For their bout, Joyce is the underdog which he is not happy about.
“It is [disrespectful], of course,” Joyce said. “He has been built up and looks amazing by beating low-level opposition. The bigger you are built, the harder your fall. [The win over Ricardo Snijders] was a good performance but he didn’t have anyone good in front of him.
“I was looking forward to him facing Erik Pfeifer, he’s a good boxer and I was interested to see how Dubois got on. Maybe I would have been able to take something from that. The public think he’s going to smash me up. So I have no pressure on me because apparently I will lose. So it will mean a lot more when I beat him.”
To me, this fight reminds me of when Lennox Lewis, then unbeaten, took on fellow unbeaten Gary Masson in 1991. Round by round, I see this as a carbon copy with the fight concluding the same way (we will fully break down the fight during fight week).
There is no need to sell the fight with any form of hype as was also the case with Lewis vs Mason. I’m sure they will not disappoint 🙂
