Jimmy Williams defeats Yuri Foreman
Buckhead Fight Club in Atlanta, Georgia, USA 19/6/21
Jimmy Williams, from New Haven, Connecticut, is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Super Welterweight champion.
On Saturday night, June 19, at the Buckhead Fight Club in Atlanta, Georgia, he scored the most significant victory of his career when he defeated former WBA World Champion Yuri Foreman to lift the vacant title.
In a close and hard-fought battle, Williams secured victory with two knock-downs in the sixth round, earning a majority decision by scores of 77-73, 77-73 and 75-75.
The new champion improved his professional record to 18-5-2 (6), and also captured the vacant American Boxing Federation (ABF) USA title in the process.
For Foreman, now 35-4 (10), this was his second bout since returning to the ring after a three-year lay-off, and he was hoping that victory would put him a step closer to winning a second world title. Instead it could be the end of a fine pro career spanning almost twenty years.
The Williams vs. Foreman fight headlined a show billed “Underground Showdown”, and was streamed live world-wide on Pay-Per-View.
