Joel Diaz Vows “Yildirim Won’t be an Easy Opponent For Canelo”
On February 27 in Miami, Florida, Turkish Avni Yildirim will challenge the super middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Saúl ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
Yildirim’s new coach, Joel Díaz, assures that Avni is capable of springing a great surprise on the day of the fight, as he has improved a lot during the time they have been working together.
“He is very intelligent, very disciplined and learns very well. Now he is a totally different fighter. When we talked about fighting Canelo he was in Germany, but since the borders are closed, we met in Turkey to start training,” Diaz commented in an interview.
“We know it is a very difficult task, but nothing is impossible if we have the confidence, the work and the strategy. So, we continue to work hard until the day of the fight arrives. What I do assure you is that it will not be an easy fight for Canelo.
“Avni is strong-minded. He has a big heart and will enter the fight with the intention of crowning himself the new world champion. If a fighter has courage, stamina, power and a positive psychology, there is nothing to stop him. We’re not going to make fools of ourselves.”
