Josh Kelly vs. Lucas Brian Ariel Bastida

Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle, England – 30 July 2022

Josh Kelly (11-1-1, 7 KOs) and Aaron Chalmers (1-0) are set to shine as Wasserman Boxing heads to the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle for a massive night of free-to-air boxing on Saturday July 30, live on Channel 5 in association with William Hill, Numan and Infinitum Entertainment.

After a slick stoppage win over Peter Kramer, watched by over 1 million viewers on Channel 5, Sunderland boxer Kelly continues his World Title pursuit as he leads a line up showcasing some of the North East’s brightest boxing prospects.

Following a long period out, the elation was clear for Kelly as he impressed on his terrestrial television debut, making light work of his Hungarian opponent at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.

“It was great to be back doing what I love again,” said Kelly. “I was happy to be able to show my power and precision against a strong tough durable 154lb opponent.”

Both Super Welterweight and Welterweight divisions are now on notice as ‘PBK’ rebuilds momentum towards the top, with his sights set on big fights at either weight, starting with a North East homecoming in Newcastle.

“It’s exciting times – going back up to the North East and being able to be busy again is exactly what I want,” he said.

“Staying active and producing more of the same is the main thing now, I’m hungry for more.”

Joining Kelly in action will be former Geordie Shore star and MMA fighter Chalmers (1-0) as he looks to build on the experiences of coming through his first professional bout live on Channel 5 on June 17 in Liverpool.

“I’m happy with my debut. I thought I handled the pressure and remained calm,” said Chalmers. “I feel like I can still do better. I could have had a higher output in the fight and be a lot more aggressive.”

Chalmers will bring with him a huge following as he makes his second pro fight in his beloved hometown of Newcastle. With the cobwebs dusted off, and the pressure of his debut handled with, it is an ideal opportunity for Chalmers to put on a performance and claim a win in front of his jubilant support.

“I’m looking forward to fighting in Newcastle, it’s my hometown. I’ve fought there twice before and we’ve managed to sell the place out, the volume was immense and the place was absolutely electric.

“The fans can expect more aggression from me in this fight,” he adds. “I was a little hasty on my debut, but a calculated and aggressive fighter is what to expect. I don’t come to go the distance, and if I can get a knockout win in Newcastle I know I’ll blow the roof of the place.”

After two hugely entertaining events, Wasserman’s Head of Global Boxing Kalle Sauerland is delighted to be heading to Newcastle to stage another massive night of free-to-air boxing, showcasing local stars and re-establishing the city’s position on Britain’s boxing map.

“Newcastle is known for its party atmosphere, and we are immensely excited to provide the entertainment for a crowd who love their boxing on July 30 at the Vertu Motors Arena,” said Sauerland. “They’re passionate about their own, and that’ll be no different when ‘PBK’ Josh Kelly comes back to the North East to make another huge statement on a free-to-air show, live on Channel 5. With crossover star Aaron Chalmers joining the party, no stone will be left unturned as these guys put everything on the line to get the home-crowd roaring. I cannot wait.”

Tickets priced £40, £80, £100 and £200 are one sale now and available via www.wassermanboxing.com
