by Kris Anthony (krisanthonyboxing@gmail.com)
Sad news to report but Juan Domingo Roldan, one of Argentina’s most fearsome exports, has died of COVID-19 complications (he was diabetic).
Roldan was just 63.
A hardened battler that was best known as a middleweight contender in the 1980’s (he turned professional in 1978) that challenged Marvin Hagler for the world title on March 30th, 1984. He also challenged Thomas Hearns for the world title in 1987 and his last professional bout was in 1988 against Michael Nunn, again for the world title. He lost all three world title bids.
His final boxing record read 67-5-2 (47 KO’s). May he rest in peace.
