Julio César Martínez face Joel Cordova in Mexico this Saturday

Saturday night at the Code Dome, WBC flyweight champion Julio César “Rey” Martínez, will defend his Green and Gold Belt against compatriot Joel “Trino” Cordova, in a promotion of Canelo Promotions, Matchroom Boxing and Class and Talent, which will be broadcast on DAZN.

Martínez, who is promoted by Eddy Reynoso, was injured in February with a fractured right hand and was unable to defend the championship against Puerto Rican McWilliams Arroyo. Now fully recovered, he will return to the ring this weekend.

“I am very happy and very excited to be back. Never in my career have I injured myself before a fight, but that was in the past and I am already 100% to give it my all next Saturday.

“I am very grateful to Canelo and Mr. Eddy Reynoso who give me the opportunity, I hope not to disappoint them and first, God, we are going to put up a good fight. We go with everything, except fear.”

Cordova commented: “I appreciate this opportunity to contest the world title. I’m ready to start a ring war, to give the fans a great show.“
