Kiko Martínez’s Nephew Sergio Martínez Makes His “ Elite” Debut
Young Sergio Martínez debuted this weekend in the “Elite” category of amateur boxing, and he did it in a big way.
He won by unanimous decision on the second day of Liga4Boxing Alannia, a competition that brings together teams with many of the best amateur fighters in Spain. Sergio, as part of Benjamín López’s “Real Murcia” team, won his match by unanimous decision.
Martínez is the nephew of Kiko Martínez, former world featherweight challenger of the World Boxing Council and WBC Latino super bantamweight champion.
Sergio fought a very practical fight, dominating Alain Conde from start to finish, helped by his greater height and reach. In his corner, former boxer and now WBC representative Ricky Pow, Ernesto Arroche is the one in charge of training Martínez to polish the great qualities that he possesses.
After the fight, a smiling Sergio Martínez commented that he was “Very comfortable in the ring.”
