Lee Baxter Promotions has signed an exclusive Canadian output deal with FightZone TV, one of the world’s premiere streaming services for international boxing.
The promotional outlet has signed an long-term deal, which will see Lee Baxter Promotions stage shows across Canada, spotlighting some of the country’s top domestic talent and fighters in world title contention. Baxter will be the exclusive prover of Canadian content for the FightZone TV platform.
It is the first deal of its kind to bring Canadian boxing events to a global streaming platform.
“We are proud to partner with FightZone TV and finally be able to bring Canadian boxing to an accessible global platform,” said Lee Baxter. “The domestic scene in the UK and Europe has always been the gold standard for us in Canada. The way fans follow fighters from their beginnings, the value placed on domestic and Commonwealth titles, and the pipeline for success that creates. Having a broadcast outlet makes building that in Canada possible, and now fans across the world will see that we have the talent in this country to do it.”
The FightZone TV platform is available for $8.99 a month for Canadian subscribers, and will give fans access to FightZone TV’s weekly international bouts, as well as the eight Canadian events to be presented over the next year.
Lee Baxter Promotions has a strong base in Toronto, Ontario, but will also be expanding across the country, where markets have traditionally been underserved.
“There are massive boxing fanbases on both the east and west coast here in Canada, but unless you live there, you wouldn’t know it. We want to be able to showcase those markets, and give fighters from those underserved provinces opportunities to become stars on a global stage as well,” said Baxter.
The shows will primarily be staged on Sunday afternoons, to best accommodate both the Canadian and European audiences.
“For too long boxing has had an obsession with putting everything on a Saturday night, and you have a logjam of content fans have to choose from. Back in the day, big fights were on different days of the week, including Sunday afternoons, and we want to bring that back,” said Baxter.
FightZone TV broadcasts are staffed by veterans of the industry who have handled Sky Sports presentations for decades, meaning the shows will have a high quality feel in a local environment.
“For hardcore fight fans, FightZone TV is the best subscription you can buy, and we believe we’re bringing serious additional value to an already indispensable platform,” said Baxter.
Details for the first Lee Baxter Promotions broadcast on FightZone TV, slated for late 2021, will be released shortly.
