Leon Spinks, Former Heavyweight Champ, Passes at 67 – R.I.P
So sad to report that the former heavyweight champion of the world, Leon Spinks, has passed away at the age of 67, after a long battle with prostate cancer.
Spinks, the 1976 light heavyweight Olympic gold medalist that beat Muhammad Ali in 1978, only to lose to Ali in an immediate rematch, passed with his son Cory (former world champion) and his wife Brenda by his side.
He turned professional on the 15/1/77 and retired on 4/12/95, with a final career boxing record of 26-17-3 (14 KOs).
Our thoughts go out to the Spinks family, Brenda, Cory and brother Michael. May “Neon Leon” rest in peace.
