Luis Nery vs. Brandon Figueroa
World Boxing Council super bantamweight champion Luis “Pantera” Nery (31-0, 24KOs), will be facing WBA super bantamweight champion Brandon Figueroa (21-0-1, 16KOs), in a unifying duel, tomorrow, Saturday, May 15, at Dignity Health Sports Park, in Carson, California.
The winner of this fight will be in line to face WBO 122-pound champion Stephen Fulton later this year in a unification showdown.
Tijuana, Mexico native Luis Nery became a two-division world champion in September when he won a wide unanimous decision over undefeated Aaron Alameda to capture the WBC crown.
Nery first became champion in 2017, when he went to Japan and defeated Shinsuke Yamanaka, in his home country, to capture the WBC bantamweight title.
Brandon Figueroa, 24, returns to the ring after his most recent fight, when he stopped Damien Vazquez in round 10, last September.
Brandon has trained for this fight that will define his career, alongside his brother and former world champion, Omar Figueroa.
This Friday the official weigh-in of the evening took place. Nery weighed 122 pounds, while Figueroa logged 121.2 pounds.
The fight which is promoted by the Premier Boxing Champions series, will be broadcast by SHOWTIME for the United States, ESPN KNOCKOUT for Mexico and Latin America and TV AZTECA for Mexico.
