Michal Cieslak Blasts Yury Kashinsky Out In Round 1
Michal Cieslak vs. Yury Kashinsky
Polish cruiserweight and WBC #3 Michal Cieslak (21-1-0, 15 KOs) looks set for a second world title chance. The 32-year-old defeated his Russian opponent Yury Kashinsky (20-2-0, 18 KOs) with a TKO in the 1st round in Warsaw, Poland last night.
The Polish cruiserweight’s last title attempt was in January 2020, a controversial points defeat against Ilunga Junior Makabu and he is seemingly headed for a second crack of the title.
The 35-year-old Kashinsky did not pose too big a hurdle for the Polish title contender as it turned out to be an extremely early and, above all, one-sided matter.
Cieslak scored effective punches that obviously made a big impression on Kashinsky, who had no chance. After further hard punches from Cieslak, the Russian opponent turned away in the corner of the ring so that the referee had no other option than to put an end to the bout.
His completely overwhelmed opponent didn’t make it too difficult for him. Cieslak, who nevertheless delivered a convincing but short performance, could box for the IBF World Championships against defending champion Mairis Briedis in the near future or the rematch he craves against Makabu.
