Mickey Pengue lifts lid of fight cancellation
Mickey Pengue has opened up on the reasons behind his fight cancellation over the weekend – after the ringside doctor wouldn’t clear him to compete.
Pengue was scheduled to face Tysinn Best in Queensland, Australia on Saturday, but after dealing with a sinus infection all week, the fight was unable to take place.
The Australian has now reflected on the past few days, and hopes that the potential fight with Best can be rescheduled for a later date.
Pengue said: “I’m gutted to say the least. Long story short I’ve been battling a sinus infection all week, on the flight up my ears got blocked and have been blocked since which has affected my balance, so the ringside doctor wouldn’t let me fight for my own safety.
“First I want to apologise to Angelo Di Carlo from Ace Boxing and I want to thank you for your hospitality over the past week. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to come up and fight.
“Next I want to apologise to all my sponsors; Johnny Karavasilias, Colin Cuthbert, Bryce Cryer, Christian Tuckwell, Tom Brydson, and Paul Epsimos. Thank you for backing me and allowing me to pursue my dreams.
“Sorry to my opponent Tysinn Best, I know you would have put in the work and I’m sorry that it had to go down like this, hopefully we can tee it up again at a later date.
“want to say thank you for the time and effort all camp to my coach Tony Del Vecchio and team at Bondi Boxing Club. I also want to apologise to my family and friends and thank everyone who bought the stream to tune in. I love you all and I’m sorry for letting you all down.”
