Noel Echevarria defends UBO title against Jerome Conquest October 16
Noel Echevarria vs. Jerome Conquest
The Venue at Coosa Landing in Gadsden, Alabama, USA 16/10/21
Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Lightweight Champion Noel Echevarria (19-7, 12 KOs) is set to make his first defense just two months after winning the title.
“The Holy Fire” won the UBO crown with a unanimous decision over former IBF World Champion Rodrigo Guerrero in August, and on October 16 at The Venue at Coosa Landing in Gadsden, Alabama he puts it on the line in the main event of a card promoted by One One Six Boxing Promotions.
30-year-old Echevarria, born in Puerto Rico but now fighting out of Kernersville, North Carolina, will take on Philadelphia’s Jerome “Conqueror” Conquest, a fellow southpaw with tunnel vision to shock the reigning champion and use the triumph for a greater cause.
As is the case with many fighters from “The City of Brotherly Love”, Conquest has not been babied on his way to the biggest fight of his life, as his somewhat mediocre record of 11-5 (1) suggests.
But, from one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in Philadelphia, Strawberry Mansion, he is a much better fighter than the numbers indicate, and with a mission to inspire youth that crime is not the answer, he has all the motivation he needs on October 16.
Loosing his best friend to street-violence changed the life of Conquest, opened his eyes and made him dedicate himself to boxing, and to work for a better future for Philadelphia kids.
He is very much fighting for them when he challenges Echevarria, to show that big things can be achieved no matter where you come from and what you have been through.
However, Echevarria, himself a role-model who came back from homelessness and drug-addiction to become World Champion, has no intentions of letting go of what he has worked so hard for. He too is fighting as living proof that its never too late to turn your life around.
Two genuine fighters with big hearts and inspirational stories. Only one can come out on top, but no matter who walks away with the UBO World Lightweight title following their fight, both men are winners in life!
On October 16 we will see if Conquest can conquer, or if the Holy Fire is too hot on the night.
