JIMMY CARTER vs. IKE WILLIAMS
May 25th, 1951
Jimmy Carter became lightweight world Champion defeating Ike Williams by TKO in 14 rounds. Ike had been the firm pre fight favorite. The bout was staged at Madison Square Garden in New York. The third man in the ring was the former featherweight champion, Petey Scalzo. The defeat Williams suffered passed into history and was duly noted, as he had been a prestige fighter since 1945.
