In Comiskey Park, Chicago, the immortal Joe Louis got up off the canvas in the first round, to defeat The “Cinderella Man” Jimmy Braddock in the 8 round of a scheduled 15 round bout. With this triumph Louis become world heavyweight Champion and defended his crown an amazing 25 times, establishing a record of defenses in the division.
