On this day: Mando Ramos retained his WBC lightweight title

Mando Ramos vs. Pedro Carrasco

June 28th, 1972

Californian Mando Ramos, the WBC lightweight Champion, defended the crown after defeating challenger Pedro Carrasco, via a fifteen round decision. The bout was staged at the Sports Palace in Madrid. The Referee was Ray Solis.  In that era, the Referee also had the task of scoring the fight. Solis’ scorecard indicated the winner was Ramos.
