On This Day: Wayne McCullough Defended Title Against Jose Luis Bueno

March 30th, 1996

In what was considered as a controversial decision, Wayne McCullough, from North Ireland, retained his WBC bantamweight title by split decision over Mexican Jose Luis Bueno. The bout took place at The Point in Dublin, Ireland.  The Third man in the ring was Lou Filippo. The Judges were Lazaro Carrasco, Marty Sammon and Rolando Barrovecchio. Rolando voted in favor of  the challenger.
