On This Day: Willie Jorrin Conquered WBC Belt January 19th, 2001

January 19, 2001. Back then, undefeated Willie Jorrin, conquered the WBC super bantamweight championship, defeating Oscar Larios, after a rugged, bruising encounter.

The fight took place at the Arco Arena in Sacramento and was promoted  by Don Chragin. The California Athletic Commission named Judges: Ken Morita, Larry Rozadilla and Omar Mintun. The Referee was Chuck Hassett.

Enero 19, 2001.- El norteamericano entonces invicto, Willie Jorrin, conquistó el campeonato mundial de peso supergallo WBC, al derrotar por decisión unánime en doce asaltos al mexicano de Jalisco Oscar Larios. El encuentro se llevó a cabo en la Arco Arena de Sacramento, y fue una promoción de Don Chargin. La Comisión Atlética de California designó como jueces a Ken Morita, Larry Rozadilla y Omar Mintun. El tercero sobre el cuadrilátero fue Chuck Hassett.
