- After Sergio Martinez successfully returning last week and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fighting next month in Mexico, look for the two to collide next year. It would be a rematch of their lively 2012 clash in which Martinez won a unanimous decision. “Martinez is old now. He won well, but his opponent Fandino was a lump. He couldn’t move side to side, his legs didn’t respond to him to do those movements. I think he’s no longer there to box with anyone. He needs to box with me, so I can let him retire with some money. I am going to beat him because I’m going to prepare very well for that fight, apart from the fact that he is already old.”

A matchup between Manny Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KO’s) and Conor McGregor (0-1) is doing its rounds (excuse the pun). I guess it would generate a huge amount of money, if you combine that with Manny’s past ‘money problems’ (tax issues) this would be a great way for the future Hall of Famer to retire. Take into consideration what he has given to this sport (just look at his boxing record) he should be allowed this low risk high reward retirement fight. Maybe after two defeats in the boxing ring will finally convince McGregor to stay in the Octagon. Already, Pacquiao has been installed as a -250 favorite, and McGregor as a +190 underdog. McGregor has said: “What a fight that would be against Manny – a small powerful southpaw. We would have to figure out the weight and those types of things, but it’s something that interests me, no doubt.” Look for more specifics to surface over the next few weeks.
