Rey Martínez: I’m still the champion!
With mixed emotions, the WBC flyweight champion attended to “Martes de Café” to talk about his fight against interim WBC champion, McWilliams Arroyo, which ended unexpectedly after two rounds, when the doctor decided that Arroyo could not continue, due to a cut on his right eyelid.
For Rey, the result was somewhat disappointing, as the fight was just starting and he knew it was a brawl that the public wanted to see and that they had both been awaiting for a long time.
However, despite not being able to give the show he expected, he said he was happy because that night he kept his precious crown.
With his mind set on continuing to reign as flyweight, Rey will look for the next challenge for next year. The President of the WBC, commented that it is possible that Julio César will make a voluntary defense as the Puerto Rican monarch recovers from the cut suffered.
