Brazilian Robson Conceição (17-1, 8 KOs) defeated Xavier Martínez (17-1, 11 KOs), over ten rounds in a WBC super featherweight eliminatory duel, held on Saturday night.

Conceição, third in the WBC standings, won a unanimous decision over Martínez (17-1, 11 KOs) by scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92. Early on Martinez proved dangerous, wobbling Conceição with a left hook at the end of the third round but Conceição rebounded to clearly win each of the final five rounds of the bout.

Immediately after the fight, Conceição called for a rematch against Oscar Valdez.

“I learned a lot from that loss to Oscar Valdez, and because of that I was able to dedicate myself more in this fight,” Conceição said. “I was not discouraged by what happened that night. I know who I am and I knew that if I put in the effort, I could have this kind of performance. But my mind is on Valdez, and I definitely want that opportunity.”
