Roman Golovashchenko fights for the UBO International title Dec. 8 in Kiev
Roman Golovashchenko vs. TBA
Pochayna Event Hall, Kiev, Ukraine – 8 December 2021
Vacant UBO International Heavyweight title
Ukrainian Roman Golovashchenko (20-5, 18 KOs) is set to begin another run at winning the second world championship which has so far evaded him.
On December 8 he returns to fight in his birth-country for the first time in over five years, when he takes on an opponent to be confirmed for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Heavyweight title in Kiev.
Winning and defending the GBC World Cruiserweight crown in 2009-2010, Golovashchenko lost a bid for the IBO World Cruiserweight title in 2018 to Kevin Lerena.
Later that same year, he came up short when challenging then UBO World Heavyweight titlist Alexander Frank.
He also lost a rematch to Frank in 2019, but now he hopes a third UBO world title fight can be arranged for 2022, and that it will be fourth-time-lucky for him.
Winning the UBO International title on December 11 will be a nice addition to IBF and IBO regional titles already won by Golovashchenko, but his ultimate goal is to once again become a world champion.
The fight will be part of a show promoted by Champion Boxing Promotions at Pochayna Event Hall, televised by X Sport.
The main event of the evening will be another UBO title fight, as budding star Dmytro Zubko (5-0, 3 KOs) faces Achiko Odikadze (23-18-1, 8 KOs) for the vacant International Welterweight title.
